The Psalms
The Wings of the Morning
Even there shall thy hand lead me.
Psalm 139:9–10
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
What is happening
Psalm 139 is attributed to David and asks where a person could ever go to be away from God, and answers that there is nowhere.
Why it matters
It is a psalm of being known: wherever the morning carries you, you are not out of reach.
Scales
- Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
- Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
- Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
