The Psalms
Under His Wings
Under his wings shalt thou trust.
Psalm 91:4
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
What is happening
Psalm 91 is a psalm of refuge and protection, among the most searched psalms on the internet. It speaks of God as a shelter, comparing his care to a bird covering its young.
Why it matters
It is the psalm people turn to when they are afraid. The picture of wings is about nearness: close enough to be covered.
Scales
- Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
- Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
- Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
