The Words of Jesus
The Light of the World
I am the light of the world.
John 8:12
I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
What is happening
Jesus says this in Jerusalem during a feast when great lamps were lit in the temple.
Why it matters
Light is not only for seeing; it is the light of life, and it is for those who follow.
Scales
- Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
- Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
- Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
