The Words of Jesus
The Good Shepherd
I am the good shepherd.
John 10:11
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
What is happening
Jesus says this about himself in a chapter of teaching about sheep, shepherds and the door of the sheepfold.
Why it matters
A hired hand runs when the wolf comes. The good shepherd does not.
Scales
- Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
- Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
- Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
