The Words of Jesus
Lord, Save Me
Immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand.
Matthew 14:30–31
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
What is happening
Peter asks to walk to Jesus on the water, and he does, until he sees the wind and begins to sink.
Why it matters
Faith is not the absence of fear. Peter cries out, and the hand of Jesus is already there.
Scales
- Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
- Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
- Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
