Feed My Sheep

Lovest thou me? Feed my sheep.

John 21:15

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

What is happening

After the resurrection Jesus cooks breakfast on the shore of the Sea of Galilee for his disciples. Afterward he asks Peter three times if he loves him, and each time gives him a task.

Why it matters

Peter had denied him three times. Three times Jesus asks him to love, and three times he sends him to care for others.

Scales

  • Small, 12 × 16 in — More intimate. The work sits within the room rather than leading it.
  • Classic, 18 × 24 in — Our natural starting point: present enough to hold the wall, with room to breathe around it.
  • Large, 24 × 32 in — More presence across the room. The work becomes a stronger architectural element.
