Psalm 121:1–2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
What is happening
Psalm 121 is one of the Songs of Ascents, sung by pilgrims climbing toward Jerusalem. It begins as a traveller looks up at the hills and asks where his help will come from.
Why it matters
The answer is not the hills but the one who made them. It is a psalm for anyone starting a journey.
